New Years Eve Guest

Ms. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker came by a few times today. She was an early bird. Maybe she came from Sharon's!! Earliest picture I have of her in past has been Jan. 11.....

Chelsea Deer 12-30-09 & Goose Music

Here's a large part of the herd. We counted 17 in total!!
Four guys and a gal. Wonder if it's the same group we saw in late summer?
Another group at right of field. One young buck on the right...
Tails win!
Here's an interesting but not great quality video of "Chelsea Goose Music" in Nov. Really made to capture the sound.....

Special Xmas Presents

When our older cat deems a little critter Very Special, they are brought in for a meal! A flying squirrel and chipmunk were presents from Texas. After unwrapping, Binky made Dad play "go fetch" with the chipmunk!

Xmas Hostess

Xmas dinner was held at Doris Cooke's home this year. She will be 90 in January!!!! Bandit is her dog. Following post shows some of the many Xmas artifacts she displayed.

Vintage Xmas Decorations

These pictures are just the tip of the iceburg! Mr. Cooke made many of these...
This picture was done by Doris' daughter. It is paper mache on the figures to make them 3D. Picture is wrapping paper!
The concrete goose is wearing baby doll hat and scarf!

Xmas Trees Around Home

When leaving town for Holidays, sometimes use this
centerpiece decoration won at a work party or a small ceramic tree.
First time using artificial tree. Favorite nursery closed where good live trees could be purchased.

Whiteout at Chelsea, 12-23-09

Nobody "On Frozen Pond" today. This is behind the Chelsea farmhouse office where we enter the building.
Looking out from front of building... The shrub/treeline on left is where many animals are seen. There are a few deer there now. A few springs ago, there were fox families. Very difficult to get pictures. Sometimes we could sneak to the huge holly tree in the center to get a better view.....
Saw several deer all day at the "Edge of Whiteness".
Ms. Hopalong is on the far right. She has frozen knee, but manages quite well and has two youngsters....
Largest doe in the group. Must be Big Mama...

Whiteout at Chelsea II

Some deer spent the afternoon taking naps! Here's Bucky...
This looks like Big Mama.....
These two are nibbling in front of the old stable. While looking through binoculars, you could really notice that the deer on the left has a much larger jaw line. If the whole head could be seen, wonder if it looks like a small donkey?
This church is way up the main road and could be seen through the trees....
Here's a look at the house and "yard" from the entrance driveway. Most all of it was for the horses to graze. The little stable is out of view, but on the right...

HO HO HO

Pandas, pandas everywhere....
Not a panda, but we'll keep him!!
More Pandamonium! Isn't Santa great? What to my wondering eyes did appear, but a PANDA HAT in the returned Darth Vader bag from son in law in TX!Several years ago, we had run out of paper in TX on Xmas Eve. Guys were sent to store and came back with a roll of Star Wars paper! It has become a gag theme over the years! ;>)

Shorty

Shorty and Friends

Up close and personal...if Shorty sees someone outside, she (we think) will follow them to the door when they go for seeds or peanuts!
Xmas Eve munch out!...

Was a real show for the kitty on the window sill to see this bomber land!
