Deer Family 6-27-10

First twin fawns seen at the "farmhouse" office. They were flying by so please excuse the blur.....
"Slow down, Mom!"....
"Hurry! She went this way"....

Wrens and Woodpeckers

One of the wren chicks almost out. The next day, all were gone and we could hear squawking in a neighbor's yard... Now Mr. Wren has been checking out the other house in the backyard. Female hasn't come by yet. She probably told him, "leave me alone!"...Here's Hairy Woodpecker boy feeding himself. Both Hairy and Downy juvie males have lots of red toward top of the head, whereas adult males have the red spot behind the crown...
Juvie Red-belly found the food by itself.....
"I did it!!!"....

He flew way down in a neighbor's yard, but we could see his head...Managed to get the EENet white-tailed sea eagle cam open and the chicks are still there....
Chick in back had been doing wingercises up close and bopped poor sibling in the head three times!...
"Here's my white tail!!"

Home Birds

Baby Boy Downy waiting for dinner----
Yum! Yum!
(We've been keeping the thin wrapper on the suet to discourage the grackles and starlings who eat everything but the bricks! Does not deter the woodpeckers.)
Now some of the chicks have learned to feed themselves---
Here's a red-bellied woodpecker, showing where it got it's name---
Mom and Dad house wrens have been making nonstop trips to the house with it's noisey group of chicks----
And they're still hungry-----

Osprey Cam Nest and Chick

The cam nest with Mom and male on top of camera (instead of catching fish)! After waiting all day, food came to the nest. The chick ran over and tried to bite/lick the huge whitish fish (chick's head is under Dad's tail). He then took off with fish to probably clean it, but returned in 40 minutes with Mom, too. They all finally had a meal.

Before the camera switch, got one picture of Nest #1 with the much larger chicks!! (hard to see, but they were getting brownish pinfeathers )...
