Park Eagle Nest 2-25-12

Early on Saturday morning, both eagles were in the nest. Male was busy, perhaps he brought breakfast!......

Chelsea Deer 2-22-12

Fawn with buck who put on a show rubbing his antlers in the holly tree branches.....

 A doe came over to lick the fawn....

 "Had my bath, now it's time for a nap"....

Park Eagles 2-21-12

On the way to Park Office, this juvie was in tree between river bank and the road!...

 Drove a little further and there was more sun....

 Leaving in the afternoon, the male eagle had been perched above the nest, but chased two other large brown birds from the area. They may have been juvies. Mom is in her center spot....

 The male returned to one of his favorite perches.....

Blackwater Chick! 2-18-12

Finally saw chick at about 2:20 PM...

 Aww, those little black chick eyes showing....

Today Junior stopped by again and got some sun out in the open!....

 This afternoon, the eagle nest almost looks MT....

 But NO! Someone IS there! (Only binoculars uncover the secret!)....

 Snowdrops were seen at Chelsea farm office on 2-10-12....

Saturday Eagles 2-11-02

At the Park around 8AM, we could see Mom in nest surrounded by some snow....

 Later in the morning, coworker, Doris Buckler, took this photo of Mom....

 After lunch, it was Juvie Recess! We heard eagle squeals a little up the riverbank from the office. Very low and thru the trees, three sets of wings could be seen!  In a short while, this juvie perched near the office...

 He/she moved to another tree above the river bank....

 First juvie left the tree and dove down toward River. All of a sudden, THREE juvies circled in the sky above us! These two did a chase over the Visitor Center roof....

 The third one went in opposite direction, down the road!!....

Park Eagles!!! 2-7-12

Surprise, surprise. Finally saw both eagles at the nest at around 4:30 PM, Tues, 2-7. Was getting dark and many branches in front of the male....

 "What did you say?".....

Cobra 2-4-12

The new toy is a '78 Ford Mustang King Cobra. Note there is a driver inside before it's even off the trailer!!..

Chelsea Surprise Guest 2-1-12

When pulling in to Chelsea (Largo, MD farm house office) parking place today, an almost adult EAGLE flew from right to left toward the pond!!! One's never been spotted there before~~NO rivers! Quietly got out of car and spotted it perched on top of Henry Heron's cedar tree!.....

Note some white markings on belly....

It opened wings to turn around and light feathers are visible...

 Back of head has some grayish markings....

Learned from coworkers that it had been seen Monday and Tuesday feeding on something at the edge of the pond and fur was flying. Proved to be a fawn carcass.
