Home From Texas

We arrived back at the Forestville homestead at 8:30 PM on Sunday, 12-29-13. First sighting of activity by kitties while we were gone, was the kitchen dining area!!!...
Binky had a whole week to bring guests to dinner. They came from the kitty Toy Cube, the bedroom high boy dresser and living room couch!

Special Park Birds 12-14-13

First sighting ever in this area of a painted bunting!!! It is either a female or first winter male that probably blew up from Carolinas in the storm.  The male has several feather colors---Google! This is a "picture of a picture" taken by one of our naturalists on Friday, 12-13-13. She/he was actually spotted in Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary right next door!....
Early Saturday morning, we were given a show with this adult eagle flying back and forth and "singing", too. We then spotted a perched eagle to whom he was performing!....
Later a lovely juvie landed close to our office and stayed for a couple hours!...

Later it got a little brighter next to the telephone pole....

Albino Raptor 10-29-13

Here are pictures taken near the Park and shared with us by a gentleman who lives close by......
We don't have a positive ID, but our naturalist thinks it has the face of a falcon and body like a red-tailed hawk...

Fine Farm Dining 9-18-13

When entering Chelsea Farm Office yesterday, we saw that the farmer had cut down all the corn! We'll probably get dinner guests for the leftovers.  At about 6:30 PM, the fields were full of Canada geese and a few brave deer in the right field....

Wider view of some of that field showing our entrance gate on right....
Another large field on the left with geese, deer at the tree line and something white on left!?....

Closer  pic.  Is it a goat?....

Small brown and white critter feeding next to doe.....

Here it's in front of probably Mom! Must be a piebald fawn!....

Definitely a deer~~can see the head. According to a few websites, piebald and albino deer are rare and occur in less than 1% of their population. Caused by a genetic mutation....
How special to be dining under the Full Corn or Harvest Moon!.....

"Eagle" Sits on Car

This is the "Eagle" decal on my new/old 1999 Pontiac Trans AM. My original TA was same color, so this one is Teal II! Man designs and sells these, but didn't have any suitable color, so I changed colors on one of his other ones and emailed pic to him. I guess it should be enlarged, as in each group of 5 feathers, all the colors are different....

Summer's Hummers

Here is the usual view we saw of Hummer Boy since the end of April...
This is "Hovercraft" Hummer Girl zoooooming in for a sip. She will not sit!.....
FINALLY, some sunlight on Hummer Boy's ruby throat!!! This one is very finicky. If you're sitting outside near the feeder, he doesn't mind, but don't dare lift a camera!.....

Baby red-belly woodpecker is down in the lower left while hummingbird perches above....
Here are some "fast-motion" hummers in the lantana. It's about time to catch them there!!...
