Guess the eaglet is larger than I thought. It is looking like 2 light blobs--head and body!!

Took a field trip in the afternoon at Chelsea and saw three Black Eeuuwies haunting an old farm worker's house...
One in the back....

They flew up the field and one landed on barn behind the old Chelsea Mansion...

Cranes and Bluebird

"Craneman" feeding juvie whooping cranes who are being introduced to area in Louisiana. His arm is disguised as the adult parent's neck and head.... One of a few bluebird visitors to Chelsea office on Wed., 2-16-11.....

Park Eagle Nests

These are from Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011.

"Good Morning"......

This is the nest across the river in Anne Arundel County. Lynne and Steve Soper spotted it last Saturday & posted a pic....
While looking thru the telescope, movement was seen by one of the white spots! Cropped a faraway pic (blurry) to show that the larger, round white spot toward the middle is the eagle's head. You can see a lot of other white areas that are light tree branches ......

In late afternoon, one bird was in the Park nest.....

A few minutes later, there were two!! (plus a songbird at left).....

National Harbor 2-4-11

There are two of these tall eagle sculptures on either side of a street. They've been posted before, but finally got a closer daylight pic....

There are several new art panels since last time we visited. These horses are metal sculpted with mosaic inlays.....

Office Birds 2-1-11

Through the mist, early in the morning, this adult landed past the old Park Gun Club Office...

At the feeder was a nice bluejay, the towhee, and....
....a Brown Thrasher. He's been around for weeks, but doesn't like his picture taken!...
Sleet, snow, ice, and cold climate won't keep Harry Heron from waiting for fish....

In the afternoon, Junior made an appearance....

Nest Birds 2-1-11

Surprise! When leaving the Park, could see "Tux" on a nest branch....

Zoomed a little closer.....
Then heard some chattering & Shock!!! "Pat" appeared from the nest!

Here's blow up of first picture, the only one showing Pat in nest bowl. It's going to be a tough sighting year!!!
