Visitor Center Xmas tree....

 Harry Heron landed in the osprey nest to soak up some sun....

 Coworker zoomed the osprey camera down and across the River and we saw the Anne Arundel Co. eagle near the nest. Outside you could see it in the telescope. Pictures are poor quality, but any eagle is worth a try! Their nest is in lower right....

 A second bird zooming in was only seen on computer after downloading! One in nest on lower right...

 Hiked down to the tower which is closer to the nest, but couldn't see anything. Saw two white heads after returning to office area...

Park Eagle Nest

Nest comparisons of the past few months to determine if there has been a change. Although we have not seen the eagle pair very often, it appears they have enlarged it since after the hurricane and storms at end of summer. Time will tell...

The Best Present!

I am the proud adoptee of a Bald Eagle from daughter Sherry's donation to the World Wildlife Fund!!! What a good kid!☺....

 The Saga of the Xmas Tree

Because we have nosey cats, years ago we made a Feliz Navidad tree to avoid the chewing of plastic needles. This is what we had.....

 We tried that again this year, but after the palm tree was constructed, branches started falling down. The plastic attachments on the trunk broke. It started to look like a skinny tree, so we unhooked all the branches and have a Charlie Brown tree!....

That day we got a wonderful Xmas card from a dear friend which contained a lovely poem....

The Meaning of the Christmas Tree

Each part of the Xmas tree celebrates Christ's birth and 

tells the story of how God sent His son to Earth.

The wood reminds us of the manger where he lay and of

the rugged cross where He gave his life one day.

The evergreen shows the eternal life Christ gives--

anyone who believes in Him forever lives!

The decorations represent blessings from above and 

inspire us to thank the Lord for His tender love.

The shining lights show us how we're to do the same,

as we share His grace and seek to glorify His name.

So may each beautiful tree bring honor to our King,

and may we celebrate Christ's love in everything!

Home Birds 12-18-11

Today, a lovely female red-bellied woodpecker visited the suet. We haven't seen a female for a long time. Could she be our older adult?, or a newbie?...

 Here is one of the babies a few months ago, just getting head colors.....

 The SPECIAL guest today was a male yellow-bellied sapsucker!!!!....

 Very seldom see a male, and not usually this early in winter....

AM Visitor, 12-17-11

No Eagles at the nest, but this far away visitor was in a tree behind the old "Gun Club" office building at PRP...

They're Here! 12-13-11

The Tundra Swans have traveled south to Jug Bay in the Patuxent River. Most of the day they were sleeping and are far away in the next county!....

 The smaller white blobs are seagulls....

 In the afternoon they awoke and you can finally see some heads...

The pond at Chelsea farm office was full of Canada geese today, so Henry heron flew up to a new perch...

Today, 12-3, a red-tailed hawk modeled all sides at the top of the eagle nest tree....
