Nature at Chelsea

 A few thistles. Not much growing during the drought...
 A lovely goose/swan? visited the pond for over a week. It had a loud "honking" sound...

Vireos, Aug., 2011

When the Sweetbay Magnolia begins to produce seeds, many birds including the vireos stop by for a snack...
 Come On Down!....

This Summer's Hummers, 2011

This year we had mostly one regular male and female hummingbird at the feeder and sometimes a second female. This was the most common view of Hummer Boy---Not in the sun...
 Finally got to see some red!...

 The next two pictures are of a travelling "Baby" Boy. Note the marks on the throat that will eventually turn all red...

 On 9-12 one visited the butterfly bush! Was far away, but glad there is other food for them. The flowers have really multiplied since all the storms...

Today was my late Father's birthday, but see someone must have turned THREE!!...

 The asters have had a banner year!! Probably all the nice, spring rain...

Behind the white house (Old Gun Club)on right in above picture, you can see the river from the tall bank. In top, middle is one of the osprey cam platforms. Most of green foliage at bottom WAS along the bank!....

 Boat ramp!?....
 Boardwalk path? in the Nature Study Loop. On right is some New York ironweed.....
 Floating dock for canoe launching is floating, but you can't get there! Tide would soon be Low and water was flowing at a fast pace...

OLD Hurricane Isabel , Sept. 2003

Did not get pictures after Irene, but am told damage was similar to old Isabel.
