Mystery Fowl at Schoolhouse Pond 11-7

What?? Fulvous tree ducks?? They are rarely seen in this area. Wood ducks are the only tree ducks around here, and not the time of year for this activity. This pond is in the center of Upper Marlboro, MD.

Did You Know?....

.....That "cormorants" roost in trees? Never saw that before, nor do bird guides seem to mention it....

This youngster "wanted to be alone" and landed in his own tree....

The geese regulars---saw them first, before the ruckus in the trees overlooking the pond....

Trees and Deer

At Chelsea farmhouse Office

Our maple by the pond always performs an annual delightful show.....

Ornamental maple by driveway. This is behind the h0use and the deer in the following pictures, travelled into the woods behind and to right of this tree...
At end of May, early evening sun highlighted this dogwood near front of house...

A small herd of deer, all sizes and sexes, came past the front of the house on Wed., Nov. 4.

Sr...up close. There is a white throat all year, but the summer fur is so light, it's not that distinct.
