Late Hummer Visitor!! 10-4-10

Here's a late hummingbird visitor. Was here for a couple hours this morning...
Surprise, surprise!! It's a silly baby boy! Note the little dark spots on the throat. Indicates a juvenile male--will turn red.(you might want to enlarge)
I wanted to refresh the nectar. Brought feeder in just for a second to refill and saw him come to hanger twice. He then went to red salvia. Put new food out, but never saw him come back. Probably just as well---needs to make some mileage.

Last Hummer Visitor 9-23-10

How fortunate we were to see this enjoyable hummer girl's visit. She checked Everything~~suet, flowers, feeder, wind ornaments, even the flying duck, windows, and hovered next to me, looking at my coffee cup with red lining!!
Little Downy boy was quite surprised!.....

This was a little dark and blurry taken through window, but wanted to show her at feeder. She did check out the butterfly!...
All puffy, resting in the tree. Have a safe trip....

This Summer's Hummers 2010

Hummer Boy zooming in..It seems each year we have 1 male and 2 female regulars. This year's male was very over protective of the feeder and tree, whereas in previous years, the male wasn't around as often...
One of the Hummer Girls...
Sometimes you get lucky and the sun hits their throats just right....
Through the window at the Park, she's on cardinal flower....
