This is the original house on the Chelsea property. It is on the North side of all the farm fields. The leaning chimneys have been replaced and work is being done on front porch....
The grandfather , Mr. Buchheister, of Peter B. who sold the farmhouse office to Park and Planning, purchased the old mansion after the Berry's left.Up the farm road behind our office, is a barn & farm worker's abandoned house is across the street!....
Same spot, years ago.....
Side of house years ago---across from barn. Once when walking up the dirt road toward this house, a whirring sound was heard behind us. Could it be a glider? No! A vulture was flying overhead, went across the field, made a U-turn & landed in top window!Another time when close to house front, we heard a rustling sound. A juvie vulture had jumped up from the ground and was swinging on a U shaped vine right in front of the door!....
One of the more interesting items we could see was this damaged piano. Recently learned from Peter B. that it belonged to his aunt. His wife would have loved to have it in their house, but aunt said no & stored it here. What a waste.....

Oh, Loretta....lovely....and sad....assume that vandals had a hand in all the destruction/damage (like the piano)....Old Chelsea: was it originally brick and they have torn off the shingling? Or is the brickwork new? Hope they do put porch and columns back on!
Have you evee tasted the PAWPAWS???
wow, how neat. so sad when these beautiful old houses are left to die...and really sad about the piano too.
Sad about the paino. Looks like they have really weeded the barn area. I love the "bridge". So Pawpaws bring in swallowtails. ty for posting beautiful old buildings. Good you got pictures now though.
